Keith Hjelmstad is a distinguished professional in the field of higher education, renowned for his contributions as a scholar and administrator. Having spent a substantial part of his career at the University of Illinois in the Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering, Keith later transitioned to Arizona State University, where he initiated a groundbreaking endeavor known as The Mechanics Project. This project aimed to revolutionize the teaching of engineering fundamentals to sophomores by introducing innovative approaches to subjects like Statics, Dynamics, and Deformable Solids.

Keith Hjelmstad holds a Master's and a Ph.D. in Civil Engineering from the University of California, Berkeley, and a Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering from Colorado State University. His academic journey has been enriched with years of experience and expertise in structural engineering, computational mechanics, and college administration.
