Amy Schwartz

Dr. Amy Schwartz, a cognitive psychologist with over 30 years of experience, has been instrumental in bridging the gap between technology and human experience. During her 20-year tenure at IDEO, she spearheaded design research initiatives, leading to the creation of award-winning products like the Lifeport Kidney Transporter and the Medtronic StealthStation surgical navigation system. With a strong background in human-centered design, Amy has collaborated with diverse clients ranging from startups to industry giants like Baxter and Eli Lilly. She is renowned for her expertise in framing problems differently to drive innovative solutions, showcasing her proficiency in Design Thinking. As an Adjunct Professor at Northwestern University and a Design Researcher in Residence at MATTER, Amy continues to shape the next generation of design thinkers while mentoring teams in human-centered design.

Amy holds a PhD in cognitive psychology from Yale University and a BA in psychology from Columbia University. Her extensive professional journey includes roles as a former Director and Healthcare Lead at IDEO, where she influenced groundbreaking designs and solutions for various sectors.
