Digital Entrepreneur / Angel Investor at Digital Way Ventures Ltd
Wei Wei is a seasoned entrepreneur with a rich history in digital, IT, and Telecom/Mobile business, starting his journey in 1995.
He founded REDtone in 1996, took it public on the Malaysia Exchange in 2004, and later exited in 2015.
Wei Wei expanded his ventures to China in 2005 with the establishment of REDtone China and has been actively involved in commuting to Shanghai.
In 2016, he founded Digital Way Ventures Ltd group, focusing on AI, IoT, mobile, online healthcare, and digital sales of automotive products by collaborating with industry leaders and technologists.
Wei Wei has made significant investments in innovative companies like City Transformer, specializing in foldable micro electric vehicles, and has also ventured into high-tech and digital businesses globally.
His academic background includes a Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering from the University of Technology Malaysia in 1989, followed by a postgraduate Diploma in Management.
He completed the Entrepreneur Development Program at MIT Sloan in 2006 and has 5 years of experience with Hewlett Packard in various roles, earning recognition with the HP Asia Pacific Sales Achiever award.
Wei Wei has been actively involved in various organizations, including serving on the Pikom council for a decade and being a member and leader of the Young President Organisation (YPO) since 2005.
He has also contributed to the Royal Rotary Club of Kuala Lumpur and transitioned into angel investing and co-founding companies post his 50th birthday in 2015.
Furthermore, Wei Wei serves as an Adjunct Professor at the University of Technology Malaysia and the University of Tun Hussein Onn Malaysia since 2015 and 2016, respectively.
He is passionate about entrepreneurship and technology, as evidenced by his engagements in conducting Entrepreneur Development Programs, public lectures, and talks in universities and conferences.
Wei Wei is celebrated for his achievements, having received numerous awards nationally and internationally, including being recognized as the Most Influential Digital Entrepreneur by the Malaysia Book of Record in 2017.
Besides his professional endeavors, he is also a traditional Kungfu practitioner and a dedicated learner with a keen interest in various subjects like technology, politics, economy, and culture.
