Wei Wei is a seasoned entrepreneur with over 25 years of experience in the digital, IT, and Telecom/Mobile Business sectors.
He founded REDtone in 1996, which was later listed on the Malaysia Exchange in 2004. Wei Wei successfully exited the company in 2015.
Expanding his venture, he started REDtone China in 2005 and has been actively involved, commuting to Shanghai frequently.
In 2016, Wei Wei established Digital Way Ventures Ltd, focusing on curating businesses, industry leaders, and technologists in various cutting-edge sectors such as AI, IoT, mobile, online healthcare, and digital sales of automotive products.
He has made significant investments in innovative technologies, including a foldable micro electric vehicle company called City Transformer.
Wei Wei ventures globally, investing in numerous high technology and digital businesses across borders.
His educational background includes a Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering from the University of Technology Malaysia and a Postgraduate Diploma in Management, where he was recognized as the Gold medalist winner by institutions like Bank Negara and MIM.
Wei Wei enriched his skills by completing the Entrepreneur Development Program at MIT Sloan in 2006.
Prior to his entrepreneurial journey, he spent five years with Hewlett Packard, HP, transitioning from a Customer Engineer to a Major Account Manager. He was honored with the HP Asia Pacific Sales Achiever award.
Wei Wei's contributions extend beyond the business realm; he served on the Pikom council for a decade and acted as Chairman for two years. He is also a member and leader at the Young President Organisation (YPO) since 2005, holding various leadership positions and co-founding the new Sea Dragon Chapter.
He has also been involved with the Royal Rotary Club of Kuala Lumpur and has been an Angel investor and co-founder since 2015, following his 50th birthday.
Wei Wei shares his knowledge and experience as an Adjunct Professor at the University Of Technology Malaysia and the University of Tun Hussein Onn Malaysia. He conducts Entrepreneur Development Programs, public lectures, and talks on entrepreneurship at universities and conferences since 2015.
Beyond his professional pursuits, Wei Wei is a super keen learner with interests spanning technology, politics, economy, and culture. He is also a practitioner of traditional Kungfu.
His exceptional achievements have earned him multiple awards locally and internationally, including being named as the Most Influential Digital Entrepreneur by the Malaysia Book of Record in 2017.
