Uno Immanivong is a first-generation Asian American chef, entrepreneur, and business leader. Born in a refugee camp in Nong Khai, Thailand, she was named after the United Nations Organization (UNO).1 Immanivong is the chef and owner of Red Stix Street Food, as well as the Visionary of Chef Uno Brands & Catering.2 She also serves as a board member at Ashford Inc (NYSE: AINC).2
Immanivong's culinary journey began with her mother, who taught her to cook and catered Thai and Lao weddings.1 In 2012, she participated in the reality cooking show "The Taste," where Anthony Bourdain mentored her.1 This experience inspired her to leave her 16-year banking career and pursue her passion for food.1 She opened her first restaurant, Chino Chinatown, in Trinity Groves, which became hugely popular.1
