Tippy Tippens is the Chief Eternal Optimist and founder of Goods that Matter, a design company based in New Orleans that focuses on creating eco-friendly products with a social impact. Founded in 2010, Goods that Matter aims to produce everyday design goods that contribute positively to social and environmental causes. Notably, 10% of all proceeds from the company are donated to various partner causes, and it was the first Benefit Corporation established in Louisiana, having donated over $30,000 to date.145
Tippy is recognized for her extensive background in design and social entrepreneurship. She has a Master's degree in Industrial Design from Pratt Institute and a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Furniture Design from Virginia Commonwealth University. Her professional experience includes working as an industrial designer for Kohler, where she managed multiple faucet design projects, as well as freelancing for various design firms. Tippy is also an educator, having served as an adjunct professor at Loyola University in New Orleans, where she taught social and political design.134
In addition to her role at Goods that Matter, Tippy is involved in advising social entrepreneurs and has participated in numerous conferences and educational events across the country. Her work has garnered recognition, including being named to the GOOD 100, a list celebrating individuals making a significant impact in the world.125
