    Tim Lo Surdo is the Founder and National Director of Democracy in Colour, Australia's premier racial and economic justice organization led by individuals of color.

    Tim is dedicated to fostering people-powered change and has a rich background of over eight years in creating platforms for collective action.

    Before establishing Democracy in Colour, he served as a Senior Organiser at United Voice, played a pivotal role in launching Hospo Voice, a union dedicated to assisting young, low-wage workers in the hospitality sector.

    His professional journey includes pivotal roles at Oaktree, advisory positions with Senators, Campaigns Director at Jhatkaa, leading national communications at UN Youth Australia, and co-founding Open Sky, a renowned performance art group in India.

    Having actively contributed to nine national and state election campaigns, Tim has spearheaded various initiatives ranging from racial and economic justice to labor rights, climate change, and international development.

    With a wealth of governance experience exceeding seven years, Tim holds board positions at prominent organizations like Plan International Australia, the Southern Migrant & Refugee Centre, Be Slavery Free, Climate for Change, and The Wilderness Society (Victoria).
