Sylvia Ruiz

Sylvia Ruiz is a seasoned professional with over 20 years of experience in various aspects of national, state, and local politics, encompassing electoral and advocacy campaigns, policy development, strategic planning, community organizing, and media and communications management.

With a strong background in social, racial, and economic justice, as well as voting rights, Ruiz has demonstrated a commitment to working with BIPOC, immigrant, low-income, and marginalized communities to address their needs and amplify their voices.

Ruiz holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Government from Harvard University and has held key positions in notable organizations such as Director of the Power Building Initiative at Roosevelt Institute and Senior Advisor at Community Change.

Her past roles include serving as Deputy Director of Immigrant Justice Campaigns at the ACLU, State Campaigns Manager for Immigrants Rights at the ACLU, Campaign Manager at Defend Our Dreams, and Political Director at Let America Vote, among others.

Ruiz has also contributed her expertise in roles such as Director of Hispanic Paid Media at Hillary for America, Director of Immigrant Justice Campaign & Airports Campaign at SEIU, and Political Director & Communications Coordinator at SEIU USWW.

Prior to her current roles, she worked as a Legislative Consultant & Community Representative for CA State Senator Deborah Ortiz, showcasing her multifaceted experience and dedication to public service and social change.
