Tamara Z Jamil is a dedicated architect and researcher with a focus on the spatial politics of incarceration, particularly exploring the dynamics of jail construction in rural areas and the evolving nature of carceral infrastructure in urban settings. She obtained her Bachelor's Degree in Architecture from Cornell University and pursued a Master's degree in Forensic Architecture at Goldsmiths, University of London, with a specific research emphasis on the transformation of Rikers Island and the development of new Borough-Based Jails. Currently a PhD Candidate at UC Berkeley, Tamara's comprehensive research covers themes of carcerality, toxicity, and aesthetics within the field of Geography.
