Suk-Jun Kim

SJ Kim is a Korean Composer and sound artist known for his music focusing on fantastic, imaginary, magical, and realistic places.
He has received numerous international awards and commissions for his work, with recognition in competitions like Métamorphoses, Bourges International Competition, and ASCAP/SEAMUS Student Commission Competition.
Kim's research interests include sound studies, immersive sound, and phenomenological approaches to the aesthetics of electroacoustic music.
He holds a PhD in Composition from the University of Florida and has studied at institutions like CCMIX, Northwestern University, and the Ontario Institute of Audio and Recording Technology.
Currently, Kim serves as the Director of Postgraduate Research at the School of Language, Literature, Music and Visual Culture at University of Aberdeen.
In 2014, he co-founded sonADA, an experimental music festival in Aberdeen, UK.
