Scott's qualifications include a BSc (Hons) in Biomedical Sciences (Physiology) from the University of Aberdeen (1999), a PG Cert in Therapeutics from The Robert Gordon University (2008), and a Ph.D. in Physiological Sciences (Medicine) from the University of Aberdeen (2004).23 He received the prize for top student in Biomedical Sciences and First Class Honours for his bachelor's degree.23 During his Ph.D., which was jointly supervised by Professor Gordon McEwan and Professor Harry McArdle, Scott focused on the characterization of divalent metal ion transport in the human small intestine using electrophysiology and molecular biology. He also received the Physiological Society Pfizer prize for oral communication.23 He was awarded his PGCert with distinction.23
