Ryan’s professional experience includes serving as the First Deputy Commissioner at NYC Human Resources Administration, where Ryan managed over 16,000 employees and created innovative programs to help individuals and families in need. Previously, Ryan served as the Deputy Director for the City of New York, where they oversaw the delivery of critical services to millions of residents. Ryan also served as the Deputy – Office of Mayor Robert Garcia at City of Long Beach, where they worked on the implementation of the city's strategic plan for economic development and social equity. Additionally, Ryan has worked in various roles at the City of New York, including Director of External Affairs & Client Experience in the Mayor's Office HHS and Operations, and Director of Capacity Building at NYC Department of Youth & Community Development.
Ryan's background in community organizing and research has been invaluable in their work. They have worked as the Director of the Organizing and Resource Center at the Audre Lorde Project, Community Development Coordinator at New York State Black Gay Network, and Education Specialist at the AIDS Center of Queens County. Ryan’s work in research includes Pediatric Research at New York City Department of Health and Mental Hygiene and Health Policy and Community Organizing at Gay Men's Health Crisis.
