Richard Bruno

Richard Bruno is a multicultural former academic turned inventor, senior executive, entrepreneur, investor, and mentor with a strong focus on C-level management, innovation, and best practices.

With a background in Research Group Management and CTO roles at N. V. Philips in both Europe and the USA, Richard has spearheaded billion-dollar disruptive innovations across various sectors like renewable energy, computer games, computing, and optical media.

His entrepreneurial journey includes founding multimillion-dollar startups in the Karaoke space and achieving success as a six-time tech entrepreneur.

Richard's extensive experience also extends to the venture capital world, where he has served as a Venture Partner in three VC funds, contributed as a founder and former chairperson of Anges Quebec, and participated in various board memberships and roles in international companies.

Currently, he holds the position of an Invited Fellow at CIRANO, focusing on innovation management practices, all while actively mentoring aspiring entrepreneurs and shaping innovation policies in the public and private sectors.

His educational background includes an Executive MBA from the University of Michigan - Ann Arbor, a Ph.D. in Solid State Physics from McMaster University, and an HBSc from McGill University.

Richard's organizational involvements span across various reputable institutions where he plays roles as an Innovation Management and Business Mentor at CIRANO, ReseauM, Women in Governance, and previously held board positions at organizations like Pharmascience, iCare.com, Walter Surface Technologies, Tenere Inc., and Green Mountain Angels, among others.

His entrepreneurial ventures and leadership roles include founder & chairman at Anges Québec Capital, interim CEO at CarboPur Technology Inc., venture partner at Cycle Capital and Inovia Capital, as well as founding and leading various corporations such as BIC Corporation Ltd, Beyond If Corporation, Digital Frontiers LLC, and more.

Richard's diverse career also includes academic positions as an Assistant Professor in Mathematical Epidemiology Group Head at Arbeitsgruppe fur Klinische Langzeit Untersuchung and Solid State Physics at the Technical University of Munich.
