Richard de Silva

Richard de Silva is a seasoned professional with 27 years of experience in the investment industry. He is the Founder, Managing Partner, and Chair of the Investment Committee at Lateral Investment Management, LLC.

Richard has a strong track record of allocating institutional growth capital to middle market businesses, focusing on independent, owner-operated companies. He is known for turning successful businesses into market leaders under his leadership.

Before founding Lateral, Mr. de Silva was a Managing Director at Highland Capital Partners, a prominent venture capital and growth equity firm. During his time at Highland, he specialized in first institutional growth and buyout investments in technology and business services companies.

One of his notable achievements includes co-founding IronPlanet, a construction equipment marketplace that was acquired by Ritchie Brothers for nearly $800 million.

Richard de Silva is also an accomplished academic, holding an MBA from Harvard Business School, an MPhil in International Relations from the University of Cambridge, and an AB from Harvard College.
