History PhD Candidate at Stanford University - Researching, writing, & teaching about human & environmental change in the modern world
Paul Gregory Nauert is a historian, teacher, researcher, and writer with a background in the tech and nonprofit sectors. With a focus on power, justice, and environmental change in the modern world, Paul's current historical project delves into the influence of mid-twentieth-century U.S. foreign policy decisions on the long-term aspects of anthropogenic climate change and climate (in)justice. He compares American choices in industrialization and resource management during the post-World War II occupations of Germany and Japan. Additionally, Paul's historical work examines various themes such as labor, land use, commodities, community, race, and gender in the United States and the wider Pacific world, including topics like Asian American networks in Californian floriculture, women in the U.S. wine industry, and American bioprospecting in China. His teaching experience covers modern American, Japanese, Southeast Asian, and transnational history, along with discussions on the ethics of war and climate justice.
