Nate Tedford

Nate Tedford is the Head of Foundry at Ginkgo Bioworks, Inc., a role he has held since June 2021. Prior to this position, he served as Head of Foundry Operations from April 2017 to May 2021 and held various other roles within the company, including Head of Test and Test Pipeline Architect. His career at Ginkgo Bioworks has spanned over a decade, beginning in January 2012.

Tedford's educational background includes a Bachelor of Science in Biomedical and Chemical Engineering from The Johns Hopkins University and a PhD in Biological Engineering from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT). His doctoral research focused on gene therapy, tissue engineering, and systems biology. Before joining Ginkgo, he worked as an instructor and research scientist at MIT, where he conducted research in tissue engineering and microfluidic bioreactors.12
