    Melissa Teng is a designer, researcher, and artist with a strong background in participatory design, data visualization, and economics.

    Currently an adjunct faculty member at Emerson College, co-teaching a studio course on participatory design and research.

    She led a participatory design project at the Engagement Lab at Emerson College focusing on a VR-based peer-supported recovery program for women transitioning out of prison, sponsored by Microsoft and in collaboration with the Institute for the Future.

    As a freelance web designer and developer, Melissa specializes in information-heavy projects requiring streamlined navigation and beautiful presentation.

    Formerly worked as a UI/UX & data visualization designer at Datawheel, contributing to open data web platforms featured in prestigious publications and awarded by organizations like the Webby's and Information is Beautiful.

    Melissa engages in collaborative and socially engaged art projects, such as The Little Archive and curates art exhibits.

    She holds an MA in Civic Media from Emerson College and a BA in Economics from Rice University.
