Koray Caliskan
Associate Professor @ Parsons School of Design | Strategic Design and Management
Koray Caliskan is the Editor-in-Chief of the Journal of Design Strategies and a tenured associate professor of strategic design and management at the Parsons School of Design - The New School since 2019. He has a robust academic background, holding a PhD in politics from New York University, where he graduated with distinction and received the Malcolm Kerr Social Science Award. His research interests lie at the intersection of design, management, and organizational innovation, focusing on the social consequences of design and technology.
In addition to his role at Parsons, Caliskan is a founding partner of The Wrong Department, a design studio based in London and NYC. He has authored several works, including his latest book titled "Data Money: Inside Cryptocurrencies and their Communities, Blockchains and Markets," which has been recognized for its innovative research methods and awarded as the Scientific Breakthrough of the Year in Social Sciences and Humanities by the Falling Walls Foundation in 2021.
Caliskan's professional journey includes various roles such as Associate Director of the MS Program in Strategic Design and Management at Parsons, honorary fellow at the University of Edinburgh, and former associate professor at Boğaziçi University. His diverse experiences also encompass filmmaking, with works showcased at the Cannes Film Festival, and contributions to social enterprises aimed at empowering under-represented women's labor.
