Martijn de Groot
Medical biologist and innovator focused on integrating technology with health
Martijn de Groot, born in 1975, is a medical biologist with a strong interest in the integration of technology and biology. He has a diverse academic background, holding a Master's degree in medical biology, a Master's in education, and a PhD in medical science. His career began at the University Medical Center Groningen (UMCG), where he worked as a researcher and lecturer from 1998 to 2008. He later contributed to the Hanze University of Applied Sciences Groningen from 2007 to 2018, where he co-founded the Quantified Self Institute, focusing on personalized health through digital technologies.
In 2018, Martijn became the head of the REshape Center at Radboudumc, which focuses on health innovation. In March 2021, REshape merged with the iLab to form the Radboudumc Health Innovation Labs, where he currently serves as a manager. His work emphasizes the application of digital techniques and scientific methods to address individual health issues, aiming to discover and implement impactful healthcare innovations.1
