Leslie Madsen

Leslie Madsen is an experienced researcher, versatile writer, enthusiastic connector, and dynamic college teacher based in Boise State University. They currently serve as the Associate Director for Instructional Development in the Center for Teaching and Learning, offering expertise in engaging students and designing meaningful learning experiences.

With a Ph.D. in Cultural Studies, American Studies, Museums, and Women in Science from the University of California, Davis, along with an MA in English and Creative Writing from the same institution, Leslie brings a wealth of academic knowledge to their role.

Specializing in history, public history, museums, science centers, open education, writing, evaluation, pedagogy, instructional design, and learning technologies, Leslie is passionate about addressing social justice issues and promoting diversity, equity, and inclusion within educational settings.

Through their project 'History in the Age of Disaster' and involvement with various cultural institutions, Leslie explores how entities like museums and archives are responding to modern challenges such as climate change, terrorism, and environmental injustice.

Known for their collaborations with museum professionals and librarians, Leslie actively engages with industry developments, keeps abreast of museum theory and practices, and embraces new technologies to enhance learning experiences.

In addition to their academic pursuits, Leslie has held various roles in educational institutions and the media, demonstrating a versatile skill set that includes instructional design, educational assessment, faculty training, and writing for diverse audiences.
