Leah Holzel is a versatile culinary professional and food journalist who redirected her career towards researching and developing recipes for anosmia after losing her sense of smell in 2016. She contributes as a food and recipe columnist for Anosmia News, a publication by The Monell Chemical Senses Center. Leah also provides expertise in olfactory training and coaching for individuals dealing with smell loss and its impact on dining enjoyment.
Leah's educational background includes an MBA from Baruch College, Zicklin School of Business, culinary arts and restaurant management studies at the New York Restaurant School, practical training in Biodynamics at the Pfeiffer Center for Biodynamic Agriculture, and a Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of Michigan.
With experience as a Culinary Creative at Yura, a renowned group of artisanal bakery/luncheonettes in New York City, Leah has also served as a Culinary Consultant and held roles in editorial, recipe development, food styling, project management, and curriculum development. Additionally, she has previously worked as a Food Editor at Every Day with Rachael Ray.
