Julian Chan is a versatile and accomplished saxophonist and flutist originally from Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, currently based in New York, USA. He has performed with jazz and non-jazz bands, and has played music ranging from jazz to rock. Chan's musical expertise has been showcased in several jazz festivals in Malaysia such as Philips International Jazz Fest, Sunrise-Mont Kiara Jazz Fest, Fete De La Musique, Johor Bahru Arts Fest, as well as some foreign jazz festivals such as Java Jazz Fest (Indonesia) and Chijmes Jazz Fest (Singapore). Julian is a qualified accountant, having studied both at Metropolitan College and Curtin University. Julian is the bandleader for two bands, Boplicity and Happy People, and he is always on the lookout for new opportunities to join working bands involved in local and international touring.
