Jeffrey Gu

Jeffrey Gu is a prominent community organizer and legislative director known for his work with Make Us Visible (MUV), an organization dedicated to advocating for the inclusion of Asian American and Pacific Islander (AAPI) history in K-12 education. He co-founded MUV in January 2021 in response to rising anti-Asian American violence, aiming to empower local communities through advocacy and education.12

In his role as Policy Director, Jeffrey has been instrumental in developing legislative strategies and managing relationships with lawmakers, contributing to the passage of significant legislation across multiple states. Notably, MUV has successfully passed laws in Connecticut, New Jersey, and Rhode Island that mandate the inclusion of AAPI history in school curricula.13 Under his leadership, MUV has expanded to include 24 active chapters nationwide, reflecting a growing movement for educational reform and community engagement.2

Jeffrey Gu also serves as an AAPI Commissioner for New York State and is involved with the Asian American Bar Association of New York's Anti-Asian Violence Taskforce. His previous experience includes working as Legislative Director at the Every Voice Coalition in Connecticut, where he advocated for policies supporting student survivors of sexual misconduct.12
