Jared Weinstein

Jared Weinstein is a General Partner at Thrive Capital, a prominent venture capital firm based in New York City. He has been with the firm since its founding in 2009, initially serving as Chief Operating Officer before becoming a General Partner in 2011. Thrive Capital specializes in investing in internet, software, and technology-enabled companies across various stages, including seed and Series A to D funding rounds.12

Background and Education

Born in 1980 in Birmingham, Alabama, Weinstein attended Duke University, where he earned a BA in Public Policy in 2002. He later obtained an MBA from the Stanford Graduate School of Business in 2011.34 Before his career in venture capital, Weinstein had a significant role in government, serving as a special assistant to President George W. Bush from 2006 until the end of Bush’s presidency in 2009. He also worked as an aide to the White House Chiefs of Staff Andy Card and Joshua Bolten.34

Contributions and Initiatives

In addition to his role at Thrive Capital, Weinstein founded the Overton Project in 2013, which focuses on promoting high-impact social investments in Birmingham, Alabama. This initiative has supported various programs aimed at improving educational and economic opportunities in the region.13
