Scientia Professor
Fiona Stapleton is a prominent figure in the field of Optometry and Vision Science, currently serving as a Scientia Professor at UNSW Sydney and holding the position of Associate Dean for Enterprise within the Faculty of Science at the same institution.
Professor Stapleton's academic journey includes graduating in Optometry from the University of Cardiff, Wales, and earning her PhD from City University and Moorfields Eye Hospital, London. Her research focuses on various areas such as the epidemiology of lens-related disease, ocular microbiology, bacterial resistance, contact lens care systems, and ocular defense mechanisms.

Professor Stapleton's educational background is diverse, having studied a Doctor of Philosophy in Philosophy at City, University of London, a Master of Science at The University of Manchester, and completing her Bachelor of Science in Optometry at Chatrapati Sahuji Maharaj Kanpur University, Kanpur. She has also studied at the University of Melbourne.
Throughout her career, Fiona Stapleton has held various important positions, including being a former Professor at UNSW, Head of School of Optometry and Vision Science at UNSW, a Senior Research Associate at Brien Holden Vision Institute, and a Senior Lecturer at UNSW.
