Kimbap Media is a Brooklyn-based consultancy helping newsrooms solve their problems at the intersection of audience, technology, editorial and product. This could range from identifying the right team to start building an equitable culture and diversifying the newsroom to empowering diverse leadership teams to work hand- in- hand with technology and design strategy.

News Product Alliance works to connect product thinkers in journalism with new peers and mentors through networking events such as virtual coffee, thematic events around key challenges facing the industry, and our annual Summit. I currently lead the NPA's programming and community team.

Earlier this year, I worked with a 14-member founding steering committee to design, build, and launch a community for news product thinkers globally. We then seated a board and handed the day-to-day work over to them.

I also served as the Lead program designer for the NPA community summit, a 2-day virtual event for more than 400 attendees from around the world.

My projects ranged from leading the design and development of a new content management system with the technology team to implementing workflow tweaks using third-party tools like Slack and Trello. I also oversaw and launched The Daily Beast's membership program, Beast Inside.

I managed the day-to-day operations of the newsroom, while exploring new intersections of journalism and technology. I worked across departments: editorial, business development, technology/product and analytics to optimize The Daily Beast's digital offerings.

I oversaw daily web production of the opinion section of <a href="http://nytimes.com">nytimes.com</a>. In addition, I led social strategy for NYT-Opinion and curated several reader reaction pieces to accompany Opinion coverage.

Managed digital products for <a href="http://ForeignPolicy.com">ForeignPolicy.com</a>, including the website, mobile experience, newsletters, emerging platforms, and internal digital resources. Reported directly to FP’s executive editor on editorial metrics and digital strategy. As the primary homepage editor, I am the overseer for the curation of daily content on the website. I also handled the team for social media strategy and production, newsletters, data visualization, and news apps development.

From April-December 2014, I was the Editorial project manager (design, build and migration to WordPress CMS) and from September-December 2014, I hosted for NYU Studio 20 project; worked with a graduate student to create and test a data journalism curriculum for working journalists.

I worked on a 3-person data team to survey the nonprofit world about topics such as fundraising, grant-making, and executive compensation. Our team provided additional data research for the newsroom, working with reporters and editors to enhance stories and investigations. I also contributed to our social media and multimedia efforts, in addition to occasional blogging.

Throughout the year, our team oversaw seven major surveys, executed concurrently in 10 to 12 week blocks with a rotating lead to oversee the management of each project (in 2013, I managed 3 of these). Each project included development of survey questions, design and testing of the survey, deployment and data collection, data clean-up and analysis, presentation of research to editors and reporters, and data visualization for print and web.

Worked as a social media and community engagement consultant for various Webbmedia Group projects, including training newsrooms on social media reporting best practices and overseeing social media and engagement strategy for Data: A Love Story.

Oversaw <a href="http://www.cookingclub.com">www.cookingclub.com</a>, managed social accounts and interacted with 300,000+ club members via social media, wrote and edited Food Now! e-newsletter.

I worked to create and grow The Cooking Club Pinterest account, including overseeing the first Pin It To Win It promotion. I debuted new features in the Cooking Club social media communities such as community guidelines and the Member of the Week feature on the Facebook page. I developed and introduced a new format for the e-newsletter called Make It This Weekend, a round-up of three new recipes to try during the weekend.

Helped write social media best practices for the newsroom, and managed social media accounts for Star Tribune. In a short span of time, The Star Tribune doubled their Twitter following from January to September 2011 and grew Facebook interactions and views tremendously by 1,700% during the same period.

I had a blast when I was chosen to train more than 40 editors and reporters in the features and news sections on social media tools and web reporting techniques and also been a part of the 5-person team producing <a href="http://www.startribune.com">www.startribune.com</a> wherein I served as the Saturday web editor.

Covered local business in Washington County and city government in East Metro suburbs. Trained colleagues in social media skills, and that led to launching <a href="http://www.facebook.com/Strib.WashCo">www.facebook.com/Strib.WashCo</a> - a home for the Washington County Sunday section, and started an internal, news bureau wiki of online storytelling tools.

Chosen to be Editorial research assistant, I’ve designed and managed major survey projects for The Chronicle of Philanthropy on foundations, nonprofit endowments, online fundraising, donor-advised funds, and executive compensation. Worked extensively with IRS Form 990 and completed data analysis, planned, and designed data visualizations for each project.
