Chief Marketing Officer and Partner

Action Title Research started as a client of mine at Chief Outsiders. Wanting more of my time, the CEO  recruited me to join full-time.

The company is a highly respected regional title research company that has experienced significant organic and inorganic growth, leveraging technology and processes to serve an industry ripe for digital transformation. Action is known for stellar customer service and helping clients achieve higher efficiencies and scale while increasing confidence and clarity for all involved in property transactions. I led rebranding and introduced modern marketing and sales processes, including marketing and sales technology stacks to support demand generation. I also led the sales team for a significant portion of my tenure, increasing collaboration, sharing performance metrics and reporting, and formulating a shared GTM vision.

Despite a very challenging market, given high interest rates, we increased our market share, landed many new clients, and maintained wallet share with existing accounts.

Action Title Research, LLC

Chief Marketing Officer

Chief Outsiders is the leading national business consulting firm providing fractional and project-based CMO/CSO services. The firm recruits and hires CMOs/CSOs with Fortune 500 backgrounds. Over the past ten years (2012-2022), Chief Outsiders posted revenue growth of 15X—enough to earn ten consecutive years on the Inc. 5000 list and the 3,895th spot on this year's register. I served as a fractional CMO and partner in the firm, sitting on the executive team of twenty-three companies. I consistently earned Net Promoter Scores (NPS) of 9 or 10 from my clients; the client's goals and outcomes were achieved.

My assignments would often entail building and executing growth strategies. I usually reported to the CEO. Engagements could last anywhere between three and twenty-four months.

Early stage startup delivering integrated IoT and SaaS solution designed to enhance the lives of the elderly and better empower caregivers and families to collaborate in personalized care. Startup funded by one of the Northwest's most progressive and respected assisted living companies. My focus was on advising on product strategy.

Strategic Advisor and Consultant

I served as General Manager for SGI's storage and data analytics business units. SGI focused on high-performance computing, and the analytics unit focused on creating data visualization and interpretative models using Machine Learning algorithms. In addition, I served as the CEO's Chief-of-Staff and drove the corporate strategic planning process and other strategic initiatives. I initially reported to the COO and, later, to the CEO. The product development, product management, and data analytics teams reported to me.

Vice President and General Manager

As Alacritech's Vice President of Marketing, I was responsible for all marketing and product management. I also assisted the CEO, Silicon Valley Pioneer, Larry Boucher, and the CFO in corporate development activities, including licensing and partnership agreements. Alacritech specialized in TCP/IP offload technology and partnered with Microsoft (who developed Chimney Offload, embedded it into its OS, and communicated with our technology), large server OEMs, and adapter vendors to bring its technology to market. We enjoyed two revenue streams:  Our network accelerator card designs and software technology and the sale of licensees to network adapter manufacturers integrating our technology.

I led the product marketing, product management, and marketing operations teams. In addition, Sales reported to me for three years. I reported to the CEO.

Alacritech

Vice President of Marketing and Corporate Development

Intransa was a 3-Comm spinout focused on building highly scalable iSCSI storage systems.

I led the marketing and product management teams. We created awareness and down-funnel content nurturing tracks for iSCSI solutions (a storage communication protocol using standard IP networks) for both inbound and outbound. I owned the product roadmap for the company and reported directly to the CEO.  

I was elected to the Storage Networking Industry Association (SNIA) iSCSI board of directors, serving with other companies in the space (NetApp and EqualLogic being two) to create content for SNIA to promote the merits of iSCSI via its website and sponsored events and served as an industry evangelist.

Intransa

VP Marketing and Business Development

Brocade was a technology company known for its Fibre Channel storage and networking products. Broadcom acquired Brocade in 2017.

As General Manager, I owned revenue responsibility for Brocade's Transport product portfolio, accounting for most of the company's revenue (~$500MM). I defined the GTM strategy for my product lines, interfacing closely with sales teams and senior management, and collaborated with engineering on roadmap priorities. I led the product marketing and product management teams. I was frequently in front of the major storage OEMs selling programs, gathering requirements, and coordinating launch schedules. I reported to the SVP of Sales and Marketing who was later promoted to CEO.

Brocade Communications

I led product marketing and product management for McDATA's $110 MM Plus Fabric Swith line of products (used to connect servers to storage through a dedicated network called a Storage Area Network, or SAN).

I had P&L responsibility for the segment and reported to the President. I closely collaborated with the enginering team on roadmaps and frequently presented roadmaps to the major OEMs.

In addition, I filled role of owner and spokesperson for mid-market solutions and frequently spoke at conferences.
