David Bell, a highly accomplished industry veteran, was inducted into the Advertising Hall of Fame in 2007. With a rich history in the advertising world, Mr. Bell has held prestigious roles such as CEO in four industry companies, playing pivotal roles in major acquisitions and the growth of top global agencies.
His journey started when he was CEO of Knox Reeves, later acquired by Bozell, where he significantly contributed to transforming the company from a modest American firm to a powerhouse among the top 10 Global Agencies. Subsequently, he assumed the role of CEO at Bozell Worldwide, eventually navigating through acquisitions by True North Communications and Interpublic Group, where he also served as CEO.
Transitioning from Interpublic, Mr. Bell made an impactful shift to Google as a Senior Advisor for over four years before embarking on a new challenge alongside Tim Armstrong at AOL, aiding in the company's turnaround. His role continued post the acquisition of AOL by Verizon, where he currently serves as a senior advisor.
In 2008, Mr. Bell joined forces with Pegasus Capital Advisors to establish gyro, a leading global B2B agency that clinched AdAge's Global B2B Agency of the Year in 2016, eventually being acquired by Dentsu while he retains the position of chairman.
Beyond his corporate endeavors, Mr. Bell has also been deeply involved in various industry associations and foundations, having served as Chairman of esteemed organizations like the American Associations of Advertising Agencies, the American Advertising Federation, the Advertising Educational Foundation, and the Ad Council. He has also led initiatives as Chair of the Ad Council Advisory Committee and the National Forest Foundation while engaging with the AD industry PAC.
Additionally, his commitment to education and community is evident through his roles as a Trustee at Macalester College and the Convent of the Sacred Heart School. In the corporate realm, Mr. Bell serves as a director in notable public companies like Time Inc. and Creative Reality / Connexus, while offering guidance to ad tech firms such as DoubleVerify, Resonate, Dstillery, Your Tango, Pebblepost, and 33Across.
