Kris Michell is an accomplished professional with an extensive background in government and public service. As President/CEO of the Downtown San Diego Partnership, she is responsible for overseeing the day-to-day operations of the organization, which includes a membership of over 300 businesses. In this role, she carries out the Board's Strategic Plan for downtown and manages the $6 million Clean and Safe program.

Michell was previously the Chief of Staff to Mayor Jerry Sanders, where she ran the day-to-day operations of the Mayor's Office and implemented his agenda for city government. She also held various executive positions, including Vice President of the Sickels Group and the Marsh Risk and Insurance Services, where she specialized in risk management and government approval/entitlements for key projects. Michell was also Vice President of Governmental Relations for the San Diego Padres, where she managed overall governmental relations and spearheaded the successful campaign in support of Proposition C, which led to the development of Petco Park.

In addition to her professional accomplishments, Michell is active in several nonprofit organizations and serves on various boards of service. These include the San Diego County Convention and Visitor's Bureau, the San Diego Regional Economic Development Corporation, the United Way of San Diego County, the National Conflict Resolution Center, and Workforce Partnership.

Michell holds a B.A. in Political Science from San Diego State University. She is a member of a variety of organizations, including the Downtown Rotary Club of San Diego 33, the San Diego Regional Chamber of Commerce Public Policy Committee, and the Ending Homelessness Leadership Team.
