Bradford Gibbs is the Urry and Comfort Family Senior Lecturer in Economics at Brown University. He specializes in applied finance and teaches courses such as Corporate Finance, Financial Institutions, and Advanced Topics in Corporate Finance for both undergraduate and executive MBA programs. He also serves as Vice Chair of the Economics Department and an undergraduate advisor.123
Gibbs has a distinguished professional background with nearly 20 years in financial services. He spent over 13 years at Morgan Stanley, where he held leadership roles including Head of South Africa Investment Banking and Head of EMEA Chemicals, Building Materials, and Paper & Packaging. He also co-founded a sub-Saharan Africa-focused banking group that went public on the London Stock Exchange, raising approximately $900 million in capital.123
Academically, Gibbs holds a BA in History from Brown University (magna cum laude, Phi Beta Kappa), an MBA from The Wharton School at the University of Pennsylvania, and a Master of Arts in Teaching (MAT) from Brown University. He joined the Brown faculty in 2018 after completing his MAT and has been recognized for his teaching excellence with the Dean of the Faculty's Excellence in Teaching Award in 2021.123
