Alex Fenton is a seasoned entrepreneur and the CEO of Effer Ventures, a company dedicated to enhancing staffing and recruitment businesses. Formerly the founder of GapCap, a successful fintech lender that experienced a triumphant exit in 2019, he has a proven track record in the financial sector. During his leadership at GapCap, the company was named Alternative Lender of the Year in 2019 and provided over $500m in financing to numerous UK SMEs.
After the acquisition of GapCap, Alex assumed the role of Group CEO at Growth Lending, where he orchestrated the amalgamation of several businesses and steered the company to accreditation under the UK government's CBILS scheme. Notably, he secured upwards of $75m in new investments and substantially increased the funds' utilization by over 100% amidst the challenges posed by the COVID-19 pandemic.
Alex's academic background includes a BSc from the University of Bristol, where he honed his skills in Social Sciences and Law. He is also a graduate of the Investment Advice Diploma program from The Chartered Institute for Securities & Investment and counts Charterhouse School among his alma maters. Beyond academics, he was recognized as part of the Young Guns Class of 2017, a testament to his exceptional aptitude and entrepreneurial spirit.
Currently, Alex is at the helm of Effer Ventures, steering the company towards new horizons. Additionally, he lends his expertise as a board member to various growth-focused businesses in the finance and fintech sectors, drawing on his wealth of experience in building and scaling successful ventures.
