Alex Contreras

Alex Contreras is the Founder and CEO of GrupoFounders, an organization focused on incubation, acceleration, and company building in Latin America. With over 30 years of experience in entrepreneurship, personal and business development, and leadership, he has worked across various industries including oil and gas, hospitality, and real estate.

Contreras has a notable background in venture capital, having participated in significant business operations during the global financial crisis from 2008 to 2012, which included acquiring high-profile assets in New York City. He founded GrupoFounders in February 2013, which has since developed multiple initiatives and companies within its portfolio, emphasizing innovation and digital transformation, particularly in fintech and financial inclusion.

In addition to his role at GrupoFounders, he is involved with the Maxwell Leadership Foundation, leading teams across Latin America and designing incubation programs. His academic credentials include a law degree and multiple doctorates in legal sciences and international private law, along with studies in finance and project management from prestigious institutions in the United States.12
