Julie Schulman is a seasoned community organizer, educator, writer, and artist whose work revolves around creative solution-making, art, and community building. With extensive experience in the grassroots intersection of these domains, Julie's passion lies in empowering individuals and communities towards self-determination.
Julie holds a Bachelor of Arts in Emancipatory Education and Social Change from Antioch University Seattle and an Associate's degree in Psychology from Bellevue Community College. Throughout her career, Julie has held various roles, including Program Coordinator at Northwest Folklife, Organizer at Artist Coalition for Equitable Development, English Instructor at Brain Child Learning Center, Editor, and Contributor at Hip Hop Bruha, and Organizer at Hip Hop Occupies to Decolonize, among others.
Her portfolio of work encompasses community-driven initiatives focused on promoting social justice, creative expression, and cultural exchange. Julie has played an active role in various organizations, including Black Coffee Coop, B Girl Media, Hip Hop Congress, Reclaim the Media, and 206 Zulu, where she undertook various responsibilities, including worker-owner, artist, regional coordinator, assistant chapterhead, and co-director, respectively.
