Zubair Junjunia is a young entrepreneur, social activist, and mathematics graduate with a passion for education, equality, and community-driven learning strategies. He is the founder of ZNotes, a social impact startup that supports millions of learners globally by providing accessible, free, and high-quality educational resources. Zubair is a recipient of various accolades and awards, including the prestigious Diana Legacy Award and One Young World Ambassadorship.
Zubair's educational journey began at Jeddah Prep and Grammar School, where he completed his high school before pursuing a master's degree in mathematics with a special focus on mathematical modeling and algebraic topology at University College London (UCL). His thesis project involved developing a persistence-decay model for trace-residue in collaboration with the Forensic Science Unit at UCL and Dstl.
Aside from his academic pursuits, Zubair has actively worked with various educational organizations in different capacities. He served as a National Youth Leader at Global Partnership for Education and was a Youth Advisory Board Member at EY Foundation. Additionally, he was an Ambassador at One Young World, Advisory board member for DEFI at Cambridge, Scalability consultant at BibliU, Module developer at Cambridge Judge Business School, and an Entrepreneur in Residence at Bedford School.
Zubair's primary focus is on promoting equitable quality education and ending educational inequality globally. He advocates for community-driven and peer-based learning models that ensure access to quality education for everyone, especially those in under-resourced education systems. His advocacy has taken him to various international platforms like the 40th UN General Assembly, ITU Regional Forum, and TEDx stage.
In his free time, Zubair is an avid athlete who enjoys triathlon, marathon running, inline and figure skating, and occasionally jumping into the River Cam at freezing temperatures.
