Zachary Favors

Zachary Favors, Ph.D., is a highly accomplished professional in the field of battery technology and materials science. He is currently the VP of Battery R&D at Lyten, a position he has held since June 2022.1 Prior to this, he served as the Chief Technology Officer and Director of R&D at NexTech Batteries, Inc. from 2016 to 2022.1

Dr. Favors has an extensive background in battery research and development:

1. He led a team of 9 scientists and engineers at NexTech Batteries, focusing on all areas of lithium cell development, including solid and liquid electrolytes, active materials, anodes, separators, cell architecture, and charging algorithms.1

2. His educational background includes a Ph.D. in Materials Science and Engineering from the University of California, Riverside (2011-2015) and a Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering from The University of Texas at Austin (2007-2011).1

3. During his Ph.D., he developed novel carbon, silicon, and sulfur-based nano-materials for next-generation lithium-ion batteries and supercapacitors, resulting in 15 peer-reviewed publications and 4 international patent applications.1

4. Dr. Favors has received several honors, including the Cockrell School of Engineering Scholarship and the Chancellor's Distinguished Fellowship.1

5. His research has been recognized by Nature Publishing Group, with two of his articles being among the top 100 most read in Scientific Reports in 2015.1

Throughout his career, Dr. Favors has demonstrated expertise in various battery technologies, including lithium-ion, nickel-zinc, and zinc-air batteries, as well as in the development of advanced materials for energy storage applications.1
