Zach Marks is dedicated to creating a friendlier and more inclusive financial world through his work at Jia. He has a strong background in expanding financial access in emerging markets garnered during his tenure at Tala. Zach's entrepreneurial journey began with Oystir, his first startup that was later acquired. Prior to his current role, he gained valuable experience at McKinsey, offering advisory services to a diverse clientele. Noteworthy is his contribution to designing South Sudan's inaugural national agriculture plan.
Apart from his financial acumen, Zach is a published author, having written a book on chai wallahs, India's roadside tea vendors, and contributing articles to prestigious publications such as the New York Times. He also follows his passion for languages, street food, city exploration, and perfecting the art of making chapatis.
Zach Marks pursued his Bachelor's Degree with a focus on Ethics, Politics, and Economics at Yale University. He has held various key positions in different organizations, including Co-Founder & CEO at Jia, Advisory Board member at LA Forward Action, and Director roles at Tala. Zach also co-founded and worked in different capacities at organizations like Oystir, Chai Wallahs of India, and has strong roots at McKinsey & Company. His career journey includes impactful roles such as a Fulbright-Nehru English Teaching Assistant and positions at respected entities like the Obama for America campaign and the Center for American Progress.
