Brought electrical engineering alumni, students, and industry partners together for mutual benefit.  Built and nurtured relationships between the UCLA Electrical and Computer Engineering Department, other UCLA engineering departments, and industry, through identification of industry needs, and creation of associations and alliances.  Provided opportunities for alumni to stay connected with the ECE Department through mentoring students, supporting student projects, providing lectures and workshops,  and helping with events, such as Idea Hacks and Discover UCLA Engineering.  Identified internship and career opportunities for UCLA engineering students, and supported engineering student organizations through funding  and industry contacts.  Provided industry contacts for career fairs organized by engineering student groups.  Help engineering student groups organize alumni career panels.  Researched industry trends and alumni hiring to determine potential partner organizations.

Industry Relations Coordinator

Built and maintained relationships with alumni to increase their participation and involvement within the School.  This included organizing networking events on campus and at company locations, technical forums and research reviews, student support and mentoring opportunities, company infosessions for hiring students, and sports and social events.  Recognized alumni through the School’s engineering awards process, and celebrated their accomplishments in publications and on the website.  Regularly updated alumni contact and company affiliation information in the database from research on LinkedIn and other sources.

Associate Director of Alumni Relations

Was responsible for the development, marketing, and quality assurance of approximately 150 state-of-the-art, one-week short courses in computer and information systems, engineering, and technical management.  These courses attract participants from across the US and abroad.  The courses were presented on the UCLA campus and around the world for companies including Boeing, Northrop Grumman, Nokia, US Navy, US Air Force, Symantec, Raytheon, Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory, Los Alamos National Laboratory, Sandia National Laboratories, AT&T, NASA, General Motors, and Canadian Defence Department.  Responsibilities also included the one-week Technical Management Program, which is held twice a year.   Conducted continuing research on industry trends and analyzed enrollment data trends to determine optimum course presentations.  Total financial responsibility was approximately $3.7 million per year, which was nearly 10 percent of total UCLA Extension revenue.

Developed air quality simulation models for government and industrial customers in the US and abroad as a member of the R&D group.  Testified at government hearings, managed projects, and worked with potential customers to develop new business opportunities.
