Willem Leppink

Willem Leppink is a lecturer in trademark law at Leiden Law School, having joined the faculty on September 1, 2023. He teaches a master course focused on trademark and trade name law at the Institute of Private Law. In addition to his academic role, he is a partner and attorney at Ploum Rotterdam Law Firm, where he leads the Intellectual Property team. His practice encompasses litigation and advisory services in trademark, copyright, and advertising law, representing notable companies across Europe in various intellectual property disputes, including counterfeiting and misleading advertising cases.12

Leppink graduated from the University of Groningen in 1994 and has previously held positions at prominent law firms such as NautaDutilh and Simmons & Simmons, where he was involved in management roles within international intellectual property practices. He is recognized as an expert in trademark law, being listed in various legal directories, including Chambers Europe and the Legal 500, and has received accolades for his client-focused approach and strategic legal advice.124

Additionally, he serves as a domain name panelist with the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO), further demonstrating his expertise in intellectual property matters.3
