Whitney S. Smith is a prominent figure in philanthropy, currently serving as the Chief Executive Officer of Schreiber Philanthropy since July 2023. Prior to this role, she held significant positions at JPMorgan Chase & Co., where she was the Head of Regional Philanthropy for North America from September 2019 to June 2022, and previously the Executive Director for Midwest Global Philanthropy from October 2015 to September 2019. In these roles, she oversaw substantial philanthropic initiatives, including more than $100 million in annual grant-making aimed at enhancing economic opportunities across various sectors such as workforce readiness, consumer finance health, small business development, and affordable housing.123
Before her tenure at JPMorgan Chase, Smith was with the Joyce Foundation for a decade, where she served as the Senior Program Director, managing their Employment Portfolio. She has also worked as the Associate Director of the Chicago Jobs Council from 1998 to 2005. Smith is recognized for her strategic leadership in philanthropy and has been involved in initiatives to foster economic equity and workforce development.13
Educationally, Whitney Smith holds a Bachelor's degree from Bowdoin College and a Master's degree in Social Service Administration from the University of Chicago. She is also active in various philanthropic boards, including serving as Chair of the Board of Directors for the National Fund for Workforce Solutions.13
