Walter Hatch

Walter Hatch is a professor emeritus of government at Colby College in Maine.2 He is an expert on Asian politics, international relations, and comparative political economy.3 Hatch's research focuses on international relations, international political economy, and the politics of East Asia, especially Japan and China.1

Hatch is also a research affiliate of Harvard University's Reischauer Institute and the University of Washington's Jackson School of International Studies.2 He has authored numerous articles and books, including "Ghosts in the Neighborhood" published by U Michigan Press in 2023.2

Before his academic career, Hatch worked as a journalist for the Seattle Times.2 He has also served as the director of the Oak Institute for Human Rights.2 From 2002 to 2007, he was the editor of The Japanese Economy, a refereed journal.4
