Valerie Yong

Valerie Yong is a scientist at Procter & Gamble Singapore Innovation Center (SgIC) based in Singapore. She has a background in medical microbiology and bacteriology, having completed her PhD at the Lee Kong Chian School of Medicine. Her research focused on the effects of sex steroid hormones on the virulence, signaling, and persistence of Pseudomonas aeruginosa, with an emphasis on exploring non-antimicrobial compounds to combat antimicrobial resistance and addressing gender gaps in respiratory lung diseases.1
Valerie has held various positions, including a Research Scientist internship at Procter & Gamble from October 2021 to May 2022, and a Research Assistant role at the LKC Translational Respiratory Research Lab from October 2016 to August 2017.1 Her educational background includes a Bachelor's Degree in Biomedical Sciences from Newcastle University and a GCE A Level in General Science from Bellerbys College.1 She is proficient in both Chinese and English.1
