Tristan Durie

Tristan Durie is a highly accomplished and active flautist based in Toronto, known for his exceptional performances with various renowned groups and at prestigious events.

His portfolio includes collaborations with The Bicycle Opera Project, Soundstreams, Exultate Chamber Singers, and performances of world premieres such as Gabriel Prokofiev's "Flute Trios" and Jonathan Harvey's "Vajra".

Tristan has participated in masterclasses led by distinguished flautists like Emmanuel Pahud, James Galway, and Mathieu Dufour, among others, honing his skills and expertise.

As a recipient of several awards such as the Arthur Plettner Graduate Fellowships and the Jean A. Chalmers Award, Tristan's dedication and talent have been widely recognized in the music industry.

His educational background includes a Bachelor of Music Performance with a minor in Composition from the University of Toronto, where he studied under Prof. Douglas Stewart and Prof. Norbert Palej, and he is currently pursuing his Masters in Flute Performance at the same institution under Prof. Leslie Newman.

Apart from his career as a flautist, Tristan has advanced his skills by completing a Production and Engineering Certificate at the Harris School of Recording Engineering, showcasing his versatility and commitment to musical excellence.
