    Tom Goldsmith, also known as Tech UK, is a seasoned policy and public affairs consultant specializing in innovation policy and digital trade.

    With a rich background in the field, he has advised various organizations on policy matters, stakeholder relations, and conducted research.

    Previously, Tom served as the Policy Director for Innovation and Technology at the Toronto Region Board of Trade, overseeing initiatives related to innovation-enabling regulations, autonomous vehicles, and the innovation ecosystem.

    Prior to his role in Canada, he was the Policy Manager for Brexit and Trade at techUK, the UK's prominent trade association for the digital and technology sector, leading engagements with international bodies like the WTO and the G20, along with the UK Government on trade policy issues.

    Additionally, he played a crucial role in shaping the UK's future digital trade policies and ensuring the continuity of trade agreements during the UK's departure from the EU.

    Before joining techUK, Tom worked as a Policy Adviser at The Royal Society, focusing on investment in UK research and innovation programs, as well as Science & the Future of Trade.

    He was instrumental in the development of the UK's Research and Innovation Talent Visa in collaboration with the UK Government and other National Academies.

    Tom's academic background includes a PhD in diplomatic history from the University of East Anglia, where he also taught modern history alongside his research.

    He holds a Master's Degree in Modern British History and a Bachelor of Arts in History, both with distinctions, from the University of East Anglia.

    Throughout his career, Tom has held various positions such as Policy Project Officer at The Royal Society, Temporary Lecturer at the University of Buckingham, and Associate Tutor at the University of East Anglia.
