Tom Coates is a product and design professional with over twenty years of experience. He currently runs a Product Strategy, Design and Development Consultancy as a self-employed consultant based in San Francisco.1

Some key highlights of his work:

• Led design for a caffeine-tracking app for Jawbone which was downloaded over 500,000 times in the first month1
• Worked with Nokia on using their data, algorithms and machine learning to produce live and automatically-generated city guides and location-sharing apps1
• Led design for health startup Massive Health including creating designs for the first and second versions of The Eatery project1
• Provided consultancy for Weiden & Kennedy on projects relating to Nike1
• Advised the conference startup Lanyrd, which sold to Eventbrite in 20131
• Worked on new product development for phone privacy app Burner and collaborative video-editing product Scenery.video1

Prior to his current role, Tom co-founded Verse Communications in 2018 to build an open and decentralized social network called Planetary.1 He also held product roles at Yahoo! from 2005-2010, working on location-based services and the Yahoo Brickhouse incubator.1 Earlier in his career, he was a Senior Development Producer at BBC Radio & Music Interactive from 2003-2005.1
