I had a great race at the NYC Marathon!  It was dark and freezing for four hours before the race started, and then we had to run 26.2 miles in the cold and wind! I was also Secretary of the Corporation, responsible for corporate governance matters, official record keeping of the board of directors, and investor communications. From April 2005 to April 2006, I focused on scaling SignStorey’s high performance infrastructure (organization, processes and systems) to support our rapid expansion from a 100 node digital signage network, to over 1,800 nodes.

My responsibilities included: establishing deal flow; evaluating business plans and strategies; conducting due diligence; coaching entrepreneurs; structuring debt and equity-based financings; forming investment syndicates; managing executive level staff; serving shareholders as a Board member; turn-around management, including down-sizing, expense containment, management realignment, restructuring, and re-capitalization; negotiating strategic investments, contracts, and partnerships; and guiding M&A exits. From 2003-2005, I advised Visible TechKnowledgy and inventor Alex Gelbman on the development of a patent portfolio related to electronic ink, e-paper and its applications in various markets. From 2004-2005, I was also acting CFO of SignStorey, Inc., one of NextGen’s portfolio companies, where I successfully raised $18 million in capital to build the company's 1,500 store grocery network through angel, institutional, and venture capital sources.

I repositioned and re-capitalized a nearly bankrupt company with promising technology but a failing business strategy, into a rapidly growing e-business applications company serving healthcare and insurance clients. Once stabilized, I supported the board of directors in the retained search of a new CEO, transitioned my responsibilities, and remained on the company's board of directors.

MaxSol, Inc.

FairMarket offered a hosted service that allowed online businesses to offer private-label branded auctions on their Web sites. Customers paid monthly hosting fees plus a small fee for each completed transaction. The service allowed online businesses to tap into the growing popularity of online auctions without having to master the technical complexities involved in their execution.  Stock soared after the IPO, then burst with the bubble, with the operating group ultimately acquired by eBay.

Also a key driver of a major cross-industry supply chain consortium, and lead developer of the industry-standard Supply Chain Operations Reference (SCOR) model.
