Chief Timothy B. Sheehan is a distinguished law enforcement professional with over three decades of experience in various roles within police departments.
Beginning his career in 1987, Chief Sheehan served in the Tewksbury Police Department, where he held positions ranging from Patrol Officer to Deputy Chief before being appointed Chief of Police in 2009.
Chief Sheehan is a highly educated individual, holding a Bachelor of Science in Criminal Justice from Springfield College and a Master of Science in Criminal Justice Administration from Western New England College, among other certifications from prestigious institutions such as the FBI National Academy and Harvard University.
In addition to his role as Chief of Police, Chief Sheehan has been actively involved in numerous organizations and committees focused on law enforcement, substance abuse, and community welfare, showcasing his commitment to service and public safety.
Currently serving as the Chief of Police at South Portland Police Department, Chief Sheehan continues to dedicate his efforts to enhancing community outreach programs and improving services for vulnerable populations, collaborating with various stakeholders including the Police Assisted Addiction and Recovery Initiative (PAARI) and the Cumberland County Coalition of Substance Use Prevention.
