Tim Kuhn
Tim Kuhn is a Professor of Communication at the University of Colorado Boulder. His research focuses on organizational communication, particularly how knowledge, authority, identities, and conceptions of value emerge through communication practices in organizational settings.35
Kuhn holds a Ph.D. from Arizona State University and has been at the University of Colorado Boulder since 2000, where he started as an Assistant Professor before becoming an Associate Professor in 2007.1 His academic interests include:
- The constitution of authority and agency in organizational practice
- How communication shapes organizational life
- The relationship between individuals and organizations, especially in terms of identity construction and meaningfulness of work
Outside of his university role, Kuhn is:
- An Associate Editor for the interdisciplinary journal Human Relations
- A co-coordinator of the "Organization as Communication" Standing Working Group at the European Group of Organizational Studies (EGOS)
- Vice-chair of the organizational communication division of the International Communication Association3
Kuhn has published extensively in prestigious academic journals and co-authored "The Work of Communication: Relational Perspectives on Working and Organizing in Contemporary Capitalism" in 2017.24
