Tatiana Puerta

Director, Writer, and Wellness Instructor

Tatiana Forero Puerta is the Director of the Mindlight Institute, where she focuses on emotional mastery and healing practices. She has a diverse background as an educator, somatic practitioner, trauma-informed yoga instructor, and an award-winning poet and author. Tatiana is dedicated to making transformational healing accessible, particularly within BIPOC communities, emphasizing the importance of healing from the effects of colonization.

Education and Career

Tatiana holds a double Bachelor's degree in Philosophy and Religion from Stanford University and a Master's degree in Philosophy of Religion and Creative Writing from New York University. She has over 18 years of experience in education and more than a decade working with trauma-informed somatic practices. Her professional journey includes founding "Yoga for the Wounded Heart" and serving as a Senior Academic Advisor, where she assists students with college preparation and applications. Additionally, she has taught yoga and mindfulness at various institutions, including Sloan Kettering Cancer Hospital, focusing on wellness and chronic pain management.123

Contributions and Philosophy

Tatiana's work is rooted in her belief in the healing journey as a lifelong process. She has been a strong advocate for integrating yoga and mindfulness into educational settings, aiming to replace punitive measures with supportive interventions for underrepresented youth.
