Susan Davenport is the President and CEO of the Brazos Valley Economic Development Corporation (BVEDC), a position she assumed on July 10, 2023. Prior to joining BVEDC, she served as the Senior Vice President and Chief Economic Development Officer at the Greater Houston Partnership, where she played a key role in developing economic strategies that attracted numerous companies, including three Fortune 500 global headquarters, resulting in thousands of new jobs in the Houston area.13
Davenport has an extensive background in economic development, having held various leadership roles in organizations across Texas. She was the President and CEO of the Gainesville Area Chamber of Commerce in Florida and spent 13 years as Senior Vice President of Global Tech Strategies at Opportunity Austin, contributing to the creation of 174,000 jobs and enhancing regional payrolls significantly.1
Her educational credentials include a Master of Public Affairs from the University of Texas at Austin and a Bachelor of Science in Nursing from the University of Texas Medical Branch. Additionally, she is a graduate of the Economic Development Institute at the University of Oklahoma and is actively involved with the International Economic Development Council.12
