Stian Bråthen

Stian Bråthen, a seasoned professional in the creative industry, started his journey in 1984 after graduating from Westerdals. He ventured into freelancing, specializing in illustration and comics for renowned clients like Tique, A-magasinet, KOnK, Western, as well as advertising agencies like Scaneco, Young & Rubicam, and Ogilvy & Mather.

Transitioning from freelancing, Stian worked as an art director's assistant at Scaneco, Young & Rubicam, catering to esteemed clients such as Kodak film, Mehren clothing stores, Tanum bookstores, Rikstoto, and Saab. Despite this success, his passion for design and illustration led him to a role at Art Aid, a design studio, in pursuit of more creative opportunities.

During his tenure at Art Aid from 1985 to 1988, Stian flourished as a designer and illustrator, contributing his expertise to projects for Dovre underwear, Aschehoug publishing, DnB bank, Dr. Holms hotel, and various advertising agencies like Nordskar & Thorkildsen and Strand & Lund. He also undertook freelance projects concurrently.

In 1988, Stian co-founded deville design with former colleagues from Art Aid, kickstarting a new chapter in his career. Starting with traditional design and illustration, the company quickly embraced digital tools, particularly Macs in 1989. They offered services to a diverse range of clients such as Hov Dokka, Utenriksdepartementet, Aschehoug, Gyldendal, and numerous advertising agencies. Over time, deville design transitioned into web design and animation (primarily in Flash) and excelled in web design and brand development.

After Making Waves acquired deville design in 2005, Stian worked as a designer at the company for two years before moving to VG. At VG, he held roles as a designer and contributed to various projects. Stian's educational background includes studying Grafisk design and illustration at Westerdals Oslo ACT. Throughout his career, he has held key positions at prominent organizations like VGTV, Making Waves, and deville design, showcasing his versatile skills in graphic designing, web designing, and motion graphics.
